To become a Certified Consultant Pharmacist (CCP), the pharmacist must complete 24 hours of approved continuing education credits by the NJ Board of Pharmacy or ACPE credits. These credits must be completed within12 months prior to the completion of a certification examination. The examination consists of questions related to Federal and State regulations, and tests the applicant’s knowledge of various clinical situations that may be encountered while working as a consultant pharmacist. A special series of consultant pharmacist lectures are often available for individuals seeking to increase or expand their knowledge of regulations and clinical situations that are relevant to the types of health care systems served. These lectures may be offered by Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey ,Fairleigh Dickinson University ,the New Jersey Pharmacists Association or the New Jersey Academy of Consultant Pharmacists other Health Care Organizations ,other Schools of Pharmacy or Individuals. Recent pharmacy graduates are exempt from the continuing education requirement if they apply within 12 months of graduation.
CERTIFICATION
The initial certification shall expire on the last day of April of the first odd-numbered year following the examination year.
