Thinking of Becoming a CCP this Year?

The Joint Board will be giving the CCP exam on October 10th at Capital Health at the Hopewell/Pennington hospital location. If you are interested, an application can be found at the link below. CCP Exam Registration-October 2025 Candidates who have already passed ONE of the 2 portions of the exam will only need to sit for the portion of the exam they have yet to pass.

To Prepare: Registration for the prep class-registration is open! The Academy of Consultant Pharmacists course: “Preparing for a Consultant Pharmacist Career” is being offered during the month of September. The course is available at the following Link: CCP Training Registration-September-2025

 A discount is usually given for NJPhA members. The 16-credit prep class includes an extensive home study followed by a live program on September 19th.  Federal and NJ State Regulations are discussed. It is an ACPE accredited certificate training class.  In order to obtain the CCP credential, candidates must sit for the Joint Board administered exam in October.   Course Registration is separate from the board exam and handled directly by NJPhA. The class uses the ASCP Consultant Pharmacist Handbook 5th edition as required reading. The book can be purchased at: https://med-pass.com/pharmacy/consultant-pharmacist.html Please note that ASCP members can receive a discount on this publication at checkout.  We suggest that you order the book as soon as possible to prevent delays starting the course. 

Attention CCPs–

Invitations to renew electronically were sent to all eligible CCPs at the email address associated with their certification-ON APRIL 1^st, 2025.  These renewal links became inactive on April 30^th. CCPs who had not yet renewed were sent a late renewal link   If the invitation did not reach you, or you are unable to locate your certificate number and initial certification year, you may reach out to csilvestri.jbccp@gmail.com  for assistance.

The next sitting of the CCP exam will be in the fall of 2025. Interested pharmacists may reach out to the board for information.  Notification will be posted here when the dates the location are confirmed.

Reminder that all CCPs are required to earn at least CE 40 credits over the 2-year renewal period. The extra 10 credits should be in subjects of interest to long-term care practice and may be either clinical or regulatory in nature.

Renewal News: CCPs who did not renew prior to the April 30^th, 2025 expiration may still renew. Email csilvestri.jbccp@gmail.com for an active late renewal link.

For those not actively practicing, you will be able to take the at home test at that time. It will be a 40 question multi-choice, with a passing score of 75%. Please leave yourself time to complete it. If you restart it, your answers may or may not be saved, and you will have to start again.
